SQL Developer/Power BI Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer with strong Microsoft Power BI and Business Intelligence (BI) expertise to support enterprise reporting initiatives for one of our federal clients. This role focuses on developing and optimizing advanced SQL queries and stored procedures that serve as the foundation for enterprise analytics and reporting solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with Power BI developers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to translate complex reporting requirements into scalable data models, datasets, and visualizations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that enterprise reporting solutions are accurate, reliable, and optimized for performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Design and implement efficient data models and datasets for Power BI reporting.
• Analyze and troubleshoot data quality and integrity issues to ensure consistent and reliable reporting outputs.
• Evaluate and improve query performance through tuning and optimization of existing SQL code.
• Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for operational and strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical data and reporting solutions.
• Integrate and transform data from diverse sources to support enterprise reporting needs.
• Support testing, validation, and debugging of reporting solutions and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain metrics, datasets, and analytical models used across the organization.
• Provide guidance to business users on effectively using reports, dashboards, and analytics tools.
• Participate in iterative development and rapid prototyping to quickly deliver value to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
• 2+ years of experience developing reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong experience with Power BI data modeling, including calculated columns, measures, relationships, and dataset optimization.
• Practical experience with MS SQL Server or Azure SQL, including:
• * Complex query development
• Dynamic SQL
• Stored procedures
• Performance tuning and optimization
• Experience analyzing and resolving data accuracy and integrity issues.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions.
• Experience working with multiple data sources and integrating data for reporting and analytics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
• Experience using iterative development and rapid prototyping methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting federal government data and reporting environments.
• Familiarity with Azure-based data platforms or cloud BI solutions.
• Experience optimizing enterprise-scale reporting datasets.
