About the Role
Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
This individual will play a key role in building and supporting a robust database platform that underpins quantitative research, portfolio management, and trading activities.
This position blends database administration, SQL development, and application support, offering strong exposure to data-intensive financial systems and close collaboration with engineering and research teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain SQL Server environments across development, QA, and production
• Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and system uptime
• Design and develop database structures, reporting solutions, and system interfaces to support evolving business needs
• Perform SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and database reliability analysis
• Monitor database systems proactively to ensure secure, efficient operations with minimal downtime
• Partner with development teams on schema design, indexing strategies, and SQL best practices
• Oversee database deployments, patching, and release management
• Support data workflows and processing pipelines, ensuring accuracy and performance
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required
• 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration in a production environment
• Strong background in SQL development (stored procedures, functions, triggers, scripting)
• Experience working with high availability and disaster recovery configurations
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions
• Exposure to data-intensive environments (financial services experience is a plus but not required)
• Experience with C/C++ or other programming languages is a plus
