Department: Programming
Reports to: Senior Director of Programming
Works closely with: Creative
Status: Full Time, salary exempt, avg 40+ hrs/week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Director exists to equip our team to love people the same way God loves us through clear, strategic, creative, and effective communication that helps people take their next step toward Jesus and to connecting with our church. This role creates pathways for people to connect, engage, and grow by ensuring every message, campaign, platform, and interaction reflects the vision, values, and heart of Community Church.
This role owns the development and execution of the church-wide marketing and communications strategy, including digital platforms, email communication, website and app management, social media strategy, marketing campaigns, brand consistency, and cross-department communication alignment. The Marketing and Communications Director leads communication efforts for weekend services, major events, ministry initiatives, and organizational campaigns while developing teams, strengthening systems, and ensuring excellence across all deliverables.

Responsibilities
This is what you’ll spend the most time on…
You dream, develop and direct your area of ministry for growth. This means that you passionately carry the mission and vision for success in your department; providing the why, best practices, and continual coaching and evaluation for your leaders.
Vision / Strategy
• Build and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with church-wide vision
• Translate ministry goals into clear communication plans that drive engagement and next steps
• Identify opportunities to reach new people and increase connection within the church
• Ensure all communication supports the mission of helping people take their next step toward Jesus
Content / Communication Leadership
• Oversee all messaging across platforms (email, website, app, social media) in alignment with brand guide and church-wide vision
• Own and execute weekly church-wide email communication
• Manage website, app, and linktree content to ensure timely updates and consistency across all platforms
• Ensure messaging is clear, timely, and aligned with church voice and values
Creative & Calendar Alignment
• Collaborate with the Creative Department to execute marketing efforts that align with the ministry-wide strategic calendar
• Ensure all campaigns, series, and events are supported with timely and effective communication
• Maintain brand consistency and excellence across all visual and written content
Campaigns & Projects
• Lead planning and execution of marketing campaigns for:
• Weekend services
• Major events (Easter, Christmas, conferences, etc.)
• Ministry initiatives and launches
• Manage timelines, approvals, and cross-team communication
• Ensure all deliverables meet a high standard of excellence
Digital & Marketing Channels
• Oversee and optimize all digital platforms:
• Website (clarity, next steps, user experience)
• Email marketing (engagement, segmentation, automation)
• Social media (growth, storytelling, consistency)
• Paid advertising campaigns
• Analyze data and adjust strategies to improve effectiveness
Internal Communication & Collaboration
• Facilitate effective communication channels between departments and committees
• Ensure alignment across ministries so messaging is unified and strategic
• Eliminate communication gaps by creating clear systems and processes
• Support ministry leaders in communicating initiatives effectively
Team Leadership & Development
• Recruit, train, and develop volunteer and staff teams within communications
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and excellence
• Raise up leaders who can carry responsibility and lead others
• Provide regular feedback and development opportunities
Additional Responsibilities
• Support Programming Department administratively
• Continue to support org wide strategic calendar as needed
• Assist with other projects and/or assignments as needed

• Partner with your coordinators;

• Plan and lead training breakouts. You help to develop your team’s skill and leadership ability.

Education

• Graduate-level degree in ministry, leadership, organizational leadership, business, education, communications, or a related field.
• Additional training, certifications, seminary coursework, or leadership development experience.
• Ongoing learner who actively pursues personal, spiritual, and leadership growth.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated competency, leadership experience, and ability to lead within a growing church environment.
