Information Technology Intern

About the Role
We’re looking for an IT Intern eager to gain hands-on experience developing AI agents, engineering workflow automations, and supporting enterprise IT systems across a growing, tech-forward agency. This role offers direct exposure to AI innovation and real-world systems administration in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is part-time intern opportunity for the Spring, with full-time availability in the Summer. We are looking for someone local to the Raleigh area.

AI & Automation
• Assist in building, testing, and refining AI agents for internal teams and external clients
• Support the creation of workflow automations using AI platforms, low-code/no-code tools, and scripting
• Help document agent logic, automation flows, and operational procedures
• Collaborate with team members to improve agent performance, reliability, and usability
• Research emerging AI tools, models, and automation capabilities
• Work with operational and client teams to identify AI enablement and automation opportunities
Systems Administration and IT Operations
• Assist with systems administration tasks across workstations, servers, and cloud environments
• Support patching, updates, and configuration of computers, servers, and services
• Help manage user accounts, access controls, and permissions
• Assist with monitoring system health, performance, and basic troubleshooting
• Support backup, maintenance, and standardization efforts across IT systems
• Maintain clear technical documentation and change records
Skills/Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
• Foundational understanding of AI concepts, including large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, automation workflows, or agent-based systems.
• Familiarity with AI development or automation tools such as OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Zapier, Make, Power Automate, or similar low-code/no-code platforms (academic or project experience acceptable).
• Basic scripting or programming experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar languages) preferred.
• Understanding of workflow logic, API integrations, or system-to-system communication concepts.
• Interest in AI enablement within business environments, including internal operations and client-facing applications.
• Foundational knowledge of IT systems administration, including workstation configuration, user account management, and troubleshooting in Windows and macOS environments.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, access control, and data protection best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think logically through technical challenges.
• Ability to document technical processes clearly and accurately.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to experiment responsibly with emerging AI and automation technologies.
• A collaborative, positive attitude — including an appreciation for puns, gifs, and general nonsense.
